Dr
Liam Fox MP - Speech to the Heritage Foundation in Washington
DC
In
the four and a half years since 9/11, the United States and Great
Britain have formed the engine of the global War on Terror. U.S.
and British forces have fought side by side in Iraq and Afghanistan,
and British and American intelligence agencies have worked closely
in coordinating the fight against al Qaeda. Despite occasional
tensions between London and Washington over some areas of foreign
policy, the special relationship remains an exceptionally strong
alliance.
In
his speech to The Heritage Foundation’s new Margaret Thatcher
Center for Freedom, Dr. Liam Fox will explore the factors that
make the special relationship work and assess the challenges
that lie ahead for the United States and the United Kingdom,
from the NATO operation in Afghanistan to the Iranian nuclear
crisis, and the growing threat of international terrorism.
