The Atlantic Bridge
The story of the Special Relationship can be told in a number of ways. The triumph of noble ideals. Sacrifices rewarded. Friendships forged and not forgotten. Together America and Britain have helped re-make much of the world in the image of liberty and democracy. The rule of law, rights of property, respect for human rights, these formative ideas have transformed the prospects of nations that lived in the darkness of fear and despair. This relationship needs to be constantly renewed and nurtured. This is what the Atlantic Bridge was conceived to do.
We have created a network of like-minded people in politics, business, academia and journalism who come together to share views and experiences.
We will draw on the experience and expertise of our membership in order to promote an agenda that will strengthen the Special Relationship and champion freedom in a rapidly changing world.
What others are saying about The Atlantic Bridge
"This Atlantic Bridge which you have forged, will keep alive our common bonds. It will increase the understanding and the cooperation between the countries which it is most needed, and it will ensure that Freedom's greatest alliance remains strong and steadfast for the future. Your work is vital, not only for the United States and Great Britain, but for the whole world."
Lady Margaret Thatcher, Speech to The Atlantic Bridge, May 2003
"The alliance between our two nations has been called a 'Special Relationship,' and rightly so. Not only our language and culture, but our shared beliefs in liberty, the rule of law and the transformational power of democracy bind us together. The Atlantic Bridge is an essential element in sustaining and strengthening the age-old ties between our two nations. I believe that this task has never been more important than today."
Newt Gingrich, October 2004
